Atherton: Semitruck driver suffers moderate injuries in crash

A semitruck driver was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries on Monday morning (June 10) following a three-vehicle collision in Atherton, according to Atherton police.

The crash happened around 7:15 a.m. near the intersection of El Camino Real and Stockbridge Avenue. A semitruck carrying oil rear-ended another semitruck carrying glass, said Atherton Police Sgt. Chris Vigil in an email. The truck carrying glass then collided with a Toyota Camry.

The driver of the semitruck carrying glass was taken to Stanford Hospital with unspecified moderate injuries, Vigil said. There were no spills from the truck carrying oil, and that driver was not injured, Vigil said. The Camry driver complained about pain but was not taken to the hospital, he said.

Southbound traffic was reduced to one lane while emergency crews cleared the roadway, Vigil said. All three vehicles were towed from the scene, and crews reopened all lanes shortly before 9:30 a.m., he said.

It doesn't appear that alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, Vigil said. Police have not yet determined the cause of the accident.
