The town is preparing for a long-awaited revamp of its civic center complex. Staff will move to the park between May 31 and June 3 to make way for the construction of a new civic center, City Manager George Rodericks said in an email. Town Hall, the post office and the permit center will be closed during those dates in preparation for the relocation to the park. Regular business hours will resume Tuesday, June 4, in temporary trailers in the park's North Meadow parking lot, Rodericks said.

The police department will not be affected by this closure and will remain located at 83 Ashfield Road.

The May 28 meeting will be held in the Main House at Holbrook-Palmer Park, 150 Watkins Ave. in Atherton. The town can still use the council chambers up until May 30, but it stopped holding formal meetings there after May 15 to allow the contractor to begin preliminary construction on and around the site, Rodericks said. The goals workshop is also typically held in a less formal environment than the council chambers, he said.

Take the volunteer time of these council members and put it to better use. A meeting to sit around and say stuff like "yes, we agree with the goal of fiscal responsibility"? We have the goal of "Preserving small town character and quality of life"?

It's a waste of time. Use the time to do meaningful things. Maybe this is why this council is unelected at this point. Who wants to deal with this nonsense?
