The Woodside Elementary School community will host the 10th annual Walk for Water in Woodside on Friday, May 10. The goal is to raise $15,000 for clean water in Samburu, Kenya, according to a press release.

This year's event will take place on Runnymede Farm. The farm includes more than 150 outdoor sculptures by internationally recognized artists, such as Mark diSuvero, Richard Deacon, Andy Goldsworthy and George Rickey.

The money raised in the event goes to the Samburu Project, which was started in 2005 by Kristen Kosinski after a visit to Kenya showed her how the daily struggle for water impacted the lives of the Samburu villagers.

Walk for Water events have helped fund 10 water wells in Samburu, according to event organizers. These wells continue to provide clean water to about 10,000 people.

Check-in for the event begins at 9:30 a.m. at Runnymede Farm, 980 Runnymede Road. The walk begins at 10:30, followed by lunch at the barn at 11:30.

Although registration for the walk is closed, donations are still welcome here.
