Wednesday: Atherton to hold study session on town budget

Atherton’s City Council will meet Wednesday (April 3) afternoon for a study session on the town’s 2019-20 fiscal-year budget.

Staff anticipates that the town’s general fund revenue will show a net positive change of $2.46 million at the conclusion of FY 2018-19.

“In general, the FY 2019/20 Operating Budget indicates a healthy outlook as the town continues to implement current City Council priorities focused upon reducing long-term liabilities, addressing capital project needs, and ensuring that operational needs are met,” a staff report states. “As the current fiscal year concludes (on June 30), the town is embarking upon one of its most expensive and most exciting capital projects in recent history,” the report continued, referring to the rebuilding of the town's civic center complex.

During the budget review process, staff takes input from the council before crafting a draft budget to be reviewed, fine-tuned and adopted in June.

The meeting is at 4 p.m. in the council chambers, 94 Ashfield Road in Atherton. The agenda is posted here.
