'The Ghost Train' comes to Hillview

Hillview Middle School's drama program will put on a production of the comedy thriller "The Ghost Train" Nov. 15 through 17.

The play, by Arnold Ridley, follows a group of travelers who are stranded at a remote haunted railway station in 1920s England.

"'The Ghost Train' is simple stylistically, but has many technical challenges for young actors, like dense dialogue, noir style and character-driven humor," Bill Hairton, the drama director at Hillview, wrote in an email.

"There is a good balance of characters and parts for girls and boys," he wrote. "And, maybe most importantly, it isn't heavy on romance -- always a plus in middle school! It has great suspense and audiences love it. This production marks the third time I've directed it with kids, and I performed in it myself professionally more than 20 years ago. It's definitely close to my heart!"

Tickets are $5 for the matinee on Thursday, Nov. 15, at 3:30 p.m. The ticket price includes pizza. Tickets are $12 for children and $15 for adults during the other showings.
