One man is dead and two women injured following a shooting in East Palo Alto Saturday night, July 26, East Palo Alto police reported.
Police officers and members of the San Mateo County Gang Task Force responded to the city's Shotspotter noise-detection system and reports of gunfire at about 11:51 p.m. Officers found three people suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on the 1400 block of Kavanaugh Drive in East Palo Alto.
Two women ages 27 and 34 and both residents of East Palo Alto -- were transported to a local hospital, where they remain in stable condition, according to a police statement.
A 31-year-old man from Fremont was pronounced dead at the scene.
The East Palo Alto Police Department is actively investigating the case and is in need of witnesses, according to the department's press release.
"We strongly encourage any witnesses or people who know something about this crime to notify us," department officials said.
